Online Mastering
We offer high quality mastering at affordable prices without comprimising quality. We are against the loudness war but can provide loud masters which retain the perception of the song’s transients and dynamics. Working within the digital and analogue realm we use ultra clean signal paths to help achieve the best possible results.

The Mastering Process
Helped by our acoustically treated suite, we will use a variety of techniques and tools during the process which may include…
- Corrective EQ, dynamic EQ and tackling problematic frequencies
- Noise reduction and click removal (if needed)
- Stereo image correction
- Harmonic enhancement
- Tonal balance and final EQ curve check
- Dynamic control/enhancement
- Output optimization
- Audio compression (MP3, WMA, FLAC etc)
Formats
We accept CDs/DVDs however we do prefer wav or aiff files to be sent online. We can provide a free FTP account or a dropbox for the transfer of files to and from 4D Sounds. We support files up to 192khz/32bit.
Please think about the following when submiting music to be mastered…

Any changes that you want to be made. Make notes on anything sticking out to you and any points such as clicks, EQ, noise, fade in/outs etc |

Provide examples of commercial recordings that have a sound that you are after. |

Please do not add any compression, limiting or EQ to the master of your mixes. If you’re using a limiter to control any master bus clipping issues then look into lowering the gain structure of your mix. |

While its not essential it is useful to try and leave the mastering engineer at least 3db of headroom so that the mixes can breathe. |
